Description
Glutamed original provides a high dose of L- glutamine (10g per sachet). It is available in a neutral flavour. Single serving sachets are designed to be added to room temperature water, liquids (black tea or juice), soft foods or as a supplement to enteral nutrition or tube feeds.
Typical conditions where a deficiency in glutamine occurs, including trauma, surgery, burns, bed sores etc.

- Indications - Glutamed original sachets are indicated for use in any condition in which a deficiency in L-glutamine occurs.
- Precautions & Contra-indications - Must only be used under medical supervision. For oral and enteral use only. Not for parenteral use. Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition. Do not use in any end stage disease where protein intake is restricted.
- Shelf Life & Storage - Glutamed original sachets have a shelf-life of 24 months from date of manufacture. Store unopened, in a cool dry place (not exceeding 25oC). Once mixed, ideally consume immediately. Store out of reach of children.

- Oral 1) Mix the contents of one sachet with 60 ml of room temperature liquid such as water, juice or black tea2) Mix the contents of one sachet with 60 ml of room temperature soft food such as yogurt, fruit puree or porridge3) Once mixed, ideally consume immediately
- Enteral/Tube Feed1) Mix the contents of 1 (one) sachet with 60ml sterile water. Infuse into the feeding tube port, using a syringe2) Flush the feeding tube before and after administration with an additional 20ml sterile water3) Prepare at time of administration and use immediately4) Do not add directly to the enteral feed5) If administered correctly the Glutamed Original solution will not clog the giving set lines.
- Swish and Swallow: for Oral Mucositis1) Mix the contents of 1 (one) sachet with 60ml of room temperature liquid such as water or weak juice2) Swish around the mouth for 30-60 seconds, gargle and then swallow3) Continue to do this until the glass/cup is empty4) Refrain from eating, drinking, or brushing teeth for 30 minutes after dosing, for best results5) Repeat, using the swish and swallow technique, every 8 hours or 3 times per day
- Dosage Guidelines - Adults1) The recommended dosage of L-glutamine in the clinical setting ranges from 0.3 – 0.5 g/kg/day.2) This corresponds to 10-30 g L-glutamine, or 1–3 sachets, on average per day. Best administered in separate doses three times per day.
