The Blacksmith's Cottage ~
Resting along the banks of the North River, lies the Blacksmith's cottage.
A rustic, humble dwelling, it's chimneys exhausting steady plumes of ashen smoke, constant lamplight burning through the modest anterior window. Seemingly unchanged by it's near 300 years of existence.
The cottage's current inhabitant and caretaker is a quiet soul. Taeg Rathiason knows not but, to work and work hard and carrying on as a 4th generation smith imparts a great deal to live up to. Taeg's great-grandfather was one of Cloven's foremost metalworkers.
Taeg spends nearly every waking moment forging, fabricating, welding, heating and hammering. By days' end, evidence of his skillful labor shadows Taeg, with smudges of black soot and the fire's smoky residue clinging to his exposed skin and towheaded locks.
In fact, every lantern that marks the pathways through our greenwood and beyond, was fashioned by one handcrafter or another of the Rathiason clan.
Personally, I find their work exemplary. Strangely comforting too, as in a sense, these accomplished tradesmen have aided decades of evening travelers to safely find their way home.
And once home, you just may stumble across more of their handiwork, for the wrought iron gates and fences that trace many of the estates here are again, in thanks to Taeg's family.

Our ode to the Blacksmith's cottage lies within strands of heathered black yarn.
